Hey. I'm not sure if I would call it a me thing specifically. Maybe it's more a case of osmosis due to various overlapping interests among my friends. Like Jane has her sleuth thing, Jake has his obsession with adventure and puzzles, and me and Roxy delved through a lot of hidden resistance history. But yeah, I know codes and how to break them. I'd say I'm decent. Do you need help with one?
[ and goddamnit jake... ]
Well, Jake isn't wrong. Why was he talking about it?
yes i randomly got some kinda codes bullshit and john and i arent rose and jade enough for this noise
[ the code will reveal a treasure map and clues he'll be betterish at than a goddamned code... ]
also its more like he instantly showed me it when sbahj came up and i marvelled at how the fuck someone managed to ink actual jpeg artifacts into skin which i feel should maybe not be possible????
Well then count me in for codes bullshit. Haven't cracked one in a while and I could do with some practice.
[ he's kind of surprised that jake would show dave so readily when surely that tattoo must mean nothing but regret to him now. but also it's jake and... ]
Of course he did. It's not actually that hard to do. Just requires a steady hand, some patience and either good visual memory or a reference.
I dont know why i expect you to maybe one day respond to me with some roleplaying hijinks but i reckon thats me just being generously hopeful in that regard.
Im sure your pedantic and over-analytical nature has taken note of the prospect of there being a positivity party tomorrow and im just making sure youre gonna hop your speedy ninja ass over there pronto to mingle a bit and maybe form a few pals.
Oh you were already planning on going? Well thats just peachy keen and here i thought id be twisting your arm. [ He knows you Too Well. ]
Give it up. How long have we known each other now? You know it's never going to happen.
[ also goddamnit, jake really does know him way too well. of course he knows about the party and of course he hadn't been planning on going. ]
I did take notice and it sounds nice. You should definitely go. But I don't think I'm the partying type. So I'll pass. Thanks.
[ like that's a lot of people in one place and as much as he wants to be around company, he has no idea how to conduct himself around them and especially not in a setting that's so extremely foreign to him. not to mention that it's a positivity party and just the vague notion of anyone leveling any kind of positivity at him has him wanting to run for the hills.
I can't believe chain letter spam is a thing that's actually happening here. This feels historic. You're the second one to hit me with this. Guess that means I'm gonna have to find six new victims.
oh my god i cant believe someone beat me to the punch and popped your chain mail cherry who was it it wasnt john was it ill have to go jump off a cliff if he beat me which like will do nothing bc i can fly also i think the only cliffs i know of have those harpies if theyre still around so like scratch that as an idea but its pretty great right ive always liked a good bit of chainmail ive especially always liked sending it on or changing it and sending it on although i gave you the unvarnished version here
Sorry, bro. You snooze, you lose. Rest assured it wasn't John. You've been beaten by someone who actually believed that the money goose was a real thing. So I can say that my very first chainmail was an entirely sincere one. But yeah, I'm glad for the experience. Props to Okuyasu for starting it.
Good day to you sir prince! Sending you out a message to let you know that im done fiddling with this rocky business that struck me out of bumfuck nowhere and feeling just mighty fine and dandy once more.
You could say that i was out stone cold. [ He texted you just to make that joke, let's be real. ]
[ he's so glad and relieved to hear from jake, but of course he can't just let that show. ]
Ok you've given me a few things to unpack here. 1. I can't believe you just called me sir prince. [ like wtf, bro?? is this going to be a Thing? ] 2. You just messaged me so you could make that awful pun, didn't you. 3. Good to hear from you, man.
Oh ho youve got things to unpack? Well i checkmate your unpacking with some unpacking of my own. Hows about that buddy?
1. It only makes entire sense that i called you that. By george youre a prince for one thing and sir is just polite! It feels foreign talking to you again. Um. I guess on a side note im not insinuating anything weird by calling you prince its just part of who you are so thats your own damn fault!
2. Not *entirely* but partially so! Come on and admit it. It was clever.
3. You too. A part of me was wondering if you had flitted off to rescue some people who might have fallen ill with some other weird monster sickness as you do without batting a lash.
so hey what do you do when you get stage fright do you get stage fright maybe you dont and therefore theres nothing you do but like you know what i mean when youre about to have a conversation and youre like oh god here comes The Conversation and its not like you wanna dodge it just youre maybe a little queasy even if you think itll be fine
Hey. I know what you mean. Honestly, I just mentally rehearse the fuck out of it. Consider every angle, every possible turn the conversation might take, and try to prepare for it. All that jazz. Obviously hardly anything ever goes like planned, but just feeling like you're prepared can help. Alternatively talking about it with someone else first can also be beneficial. Offers a different perspective and what not. Or the same perspective with a slight variation on it depending on who you decide to talk to.
[ the latter is probably just him though given that it's hal he turned to most of the time. which admittedly wasn't the most useful thing to do when it more often than not led to arguing in circles. ]
yeah so you remember the honesty thing im doing i kind of wasnt completely doing it but i promised that like i would this month like today and im now texting you to fend off nerves
[ given that he knows what's going on with dave and john, he figures Something's Up and there's more to this seemingly simple check in.
but y'know, he'll play along. ]
Leg's been healing just fine. Other than the probable addition of yet another scar, there's no lasting damage or anything. So good, I'd say. You doing alright?
that is good to hear. about the healing, not the scarring. the scarring actually sounds like that will suck. but yes! everything is fine...i think i got off easiest when it comes to the island. our house got all of its color back. so that's cool. i guess maybe it is just how things go here. something stupid and maybe dangerous happens, and then everything goes back to normal. and so i wanted to make sure you and jake were fine.
#E00707 backdating this to yesterday for chronology purposes

You have been visited by the $ MONEY GOO$E $
You must send this message to three others, or be scorched by its flames!
This is a protective measure to ensure the monster is not summoned. Please do pass it on.

I never expected that to happen here. This is amazing.
Who started it?

[ or rather, she took it as a very literal message, and protecting the town from danger is of the utmost importance. ]

Ah, I see.
I'm guessing he didn't explain that it's basically a joke then?
